St. Catharines Museum & Welland Canals Centre
Watch boats pass through Lock 3 from the viewing platform, plus galleries on canal history, the Underground Railroad, and the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
Port Colborne Historical & Marine Museum
Marine and industrial heritage of the canal’s south end, with a heritage village and a seasonal tea room.
Niagara Falls History Museum
19th-century building featuring exhibits exploring local history, hands-on activities & a gift shop.
Fort Erie Museums
The Fort Erie Historical Museum, Railway Museum, and Mewinzha First Nations Gallery cover the town’s rail, settlement and Indigenous history.
Niagara Apothecary & Heritage District
A restored 1869 pharmacy museum on Queen Street, at the heart of NOTL’s historic shopping and theatre district.
Welland Museum & the Murals

Free to visit, warm in winter, cool in summer. Every municipality has a branch, and many sit right on a bus route.
Niagara Falls Public Library
Four branches: Victoria Avenue, Stamford Centre, Chippawa and the Community Centre location.
St. Catharines Public Library
The downtown Central branch plus community branches across the city.
Welland Public Library
Lending, programs and free internet, and a warming/cooling centre during extreme weather.
Fort Erie Public Library
Centennial and other branches, with meeting rooms and public computers.
Every other branch, too
Thorold, Port Colborne, NOTL, Pelham, Lincoln, Grimsby, Wainfleet and West Lincoln each have a public library.
