Community Engagement
Transit is a community effort. Be part of it.
Volunteer, host a presentation, join a campaign, or share your ride. Here’s how to get involved with Niagara Transit.
Give your time, shape your transit system
Whether you have an afternoon or a summer, there’s a way to help your neighbours ride with confidence.
Become a Community Ambassador
Help fellow riders navigate the system at terminals, campuses and community events. Ambassadors answer questions, share trip-planning tips, and put a friendly face on transit. Great for anyone who loves helping people and knows their way around Niagara.
Volunteer with us
Lend a hand at pop-up events, community outreach, and seasonal campaigns. Volunteering is a great way to support public transit, meet people, and build experience, on a schedule that works for you.
Summer student programs
Spend your summer with Niagara Transit. Student roles give post-secondary and returning students paid, resume-building experience across operations, communications and community outreach. Postings open in late winter.
Join the Insights Panel
A volunteer committee of riders and community members who advise the Commission on service, policies and programs. Municipalities nominate members for four-year terms. Watch for recruitment notices when seats open.
Request a presentation
New to transit, or helping others learn? We’ll come to you. Our team offers free, friendly sessions on how to plan a trip, pay a fare, use the app, and ride with confidence.
We’ll visit your group
Presentations are tailored to your audience and can include a hands-on trip-planning demo. We regularly visit:
- Seniors’ centres and residences
- Schools and youth groups
- Community centres and libraries
- Newcomer and settlement organizations
Book a session
Tell us your group, preferred dates, and how many people to expect. We’ll take it from there.
Please request at least [X weeks] ahead so we can staff your session.
Community involvement campaigns
We put our buses and our people to work for causes across Niagara. Watch for these each year, and join in.
United Way campaign
Our annual workplace campaign raises funds and awareness for United Way programs supporting people across the Niagara region.
Canadian Blood Services
We partner with Canadian Blood Services to encourage staff and riders to donate. Every donation helps save lives close to home.
Fill a Bus for Community Care
We park a bus and fill it with donations of food and essentials for Community Care of Niagara. Drop off items and help us pack the bus.
Dates and drop-off locations are announced on our news page and social channels.
Help shape the service
Engagement isn’t just events. Your feedback and ideas directly inform how we plan routes, set budgets, and improve service.
Spend the transit budget
See where every transit dollar goes, then tell us how you’d allocate it. A quick, interactive way to weigh in on priorities.
Surveys and consultations
We run surveys throughout the year on routes, service changes, and rider experience. Open ones are listed here.
