About Niagara Transit
One transit system for all of Niagara.
Niagara Transit connects all 12 municipalities with local and regional buses, Microtransit, and Specialized Transit, so more people can get to work, school, and everywhere in between.
Who we are
Connecting the region, one ride at a time
Niagara Transit is the region’s public transit operator. We run local buses in Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, Thorold and Welland, regional routes that link communities across Niagara, and our flexible Niagara Transit Plus services, Microtransit and Specialized Transit, that reach beyond the fixed-route network.
Our goal is simple: make it easier for everyone in Niagara to get where they’re going, whether that’s a job, a class, an appointment, or a day out.

Our story
How Niagara became one system
For years, transit in Niagara meant separate systems run by separate municipalities. In 2022, Niagara Region and its 12 local municipalities shared a vision: bring them together into one integrated network that could move people across the whole region, not just within city lines.
The Niagara Transit Commission formed in May 2022, and on January 1, 2023, five local and regional operators merged into the single system riders use today. It was a big step toward better access to jobs, services, and opportunity right across Niagara.
Separate systems, now one
- Niagara Falls Transit
- St. Catharines Transit
- Welland Transit
- Fort Erie Transit
- The regional transit network
- Many specialized transit systems
All merged into Niagara Transit, effective January 1, 2023.
