Read the charter terms below so you know what’s included and what to expect.

Submit the Charter Request Form

Tell us your event date, duration, pickup and drop-off points, group size, and any accessibility needs.

Book at least two weeks ahead

All requests are subject to approval and bus availability. The sooner you ask, the better your chances.

The person arranging the charter must be 18 or older. Regular transit service always comes first, so charters depend on available vehicles and operators.

Community events may qualify for reduced or waived fees

The Niagara Transit Commission may waive charter fees for eligible non-profit and charitable organizations running events that benefit the community. Insurance fees can’t be waived.

Your organization must

  • be an incorporated non-profit or charitable organization
  • provide programs, services or events of general benefit to the community
  • primarily serve Niagara residents
  • not discriminate on any ground protected by the Ontario Human Rights Code
  • comply with all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations

How waivers are awarded

  • Applications are evaluated first-come, first-served.
  • Each organization or event can receive no more than 10% of the annual fee waiver budget per calendar year.
  • Certain legacy events may be exempt from the 10% limit — contact us if you think this applies.
  • The Commission may grant a full waiver or offer a partial one.
  • Some applications may require board approval.
  • The Commission may refuse any application without explanation.

  • Charters depend on resource availability and may be cancelled with notice during emergencies or operational issues.
  • Regular scheduled transit service always takes priority.

  • Rates reflect current operating costs, including fuel, and are reviewed annually.
  • Insurance fees cannot be waived, including for approved fee-waiver applicants.
